Did we have our kids with us? No.
Did we at some point consume food or some form of digestible material? Yes.
Was it enjoyable? Please note the following highlights...
RenMan got himself another bike. I got myself another typewriter. RenMan learned the names of all the auction house employees. I learned what a hog oiler is. (I also learned I would never buy one.) RenMan established street cred with some of the other salvage/antique dealers. I established street cred with the man running the concession stand. Excellent chili cheese fries.
Quite possibly that doesn't answer the question for you, so...Yes. Highly enjoyable.
And honestly, auctioneers Bull and Mike could probably start a stand up comedy routine, so in that regard it was VERY much like a date night. If you know auctioneer humor. Which we apparently do. In all seriousness, we did have eleven hours of quality time together which is probably more than most married couples our age get. And since he didn't make me lift anything heavy, every moment was pleasant. Apart from paying the bill.
In other news...we now need a desk lamp. I sent RenMan several prototypes during the course of the week to be on the look out for. This was NOT one of them...
I wish I would have taken a picture of the lamp he wanted to bid on Saturday night. It had a sad faced hobo clown head as the base and an inverted glass shade with the word BAR across it in something like Old English Text font. Please hold while I search the internet for something comparable.
The globe looked a lot like this. Except the base was just the clown head, which looked a lot like this. I'm pretty sure he meant to get it as a resale item, but there are some things on which I'm just not willing to take a chance.
