Two weekends ago, we sat in our kitchen, streaming an auction live on our laptop, hitting a bid button intermittently for about five to six hours. In other words...Best. Day. Ever. Today all our goodies arrived.
So yeah, those are two cast iron semi-naked women with their legs spread. They are bootjacks. First showing up in Old West saloons and brothels in the 1800's. We first saw them on an episode of American Pickers last season and they are referred to as "Naughty Nellies". The earliest examples were completely nude, so I apologize for the shocking amount of clothing they actually are wearing. Due to the difference in size and weight, we believe the bigger and more naked Nellie is the real deal. The smaller one is a historical reproduction, meaning not the original but still vintage.
I don't know why, but we love this billy goat bottle opener. It's most likely from the 1930-40's and again made of cast iron.
As for the rest of it...well, everyone loves a mason jar and we are still researching the duck decoy, It was definitely interesting to see how much people were willing to pay for an ugly basket of cast iron flowers that is used for holding a door open.
We will be moving to a new website soon! Keep tabs on us through my weekly blog on the creation of Revival.
