So being smack in the middle of Almost Christmas has us in a bit of a tailspin already. Add to that my decision (and I say MY decision, because I'm not entirely sure how on board RenMan is) to redo the girls rooms over the holiday break.
To take a step back and look at that time line...
December 2010: We move our then 2-year-old into our then 5-year-old's room so they can share bunk beds as blogged about here.
June 2013: Decide to redecorate the "playroom" with our new love of vintage.
July 2013: Purchase a cute little yellow love seat from the Salvation Army.
Later that same July 2013: Now 8-year-old asks if she can have a loft bed in her own room.
To be fair, she was very clear that she was not kicking her sister out immediately. Just sometime...in the near future...please. So I asked Little Sister how she would feel about moving back into her own room. As long as she gets to pick the paint color (purple) she is all good.
Hence why RenMan has a line up of new (actually old) furniture projects: a desk for Big Sister, a dresser for Little Sister, on the hunt for an iron bed frame, you get the idea. And I am trying to decide if it is humanly possible to patchwork a new (old) bedspread in one month's time. Oh...and pick out paint, and stencil some life size beluga whales on the walls, and relocate an entire doll orphanage.
So that's our month of December. How does yours look? As a new "small business" owner, I would encourage you all to get out and shop "small" on Saturday. If you happen to have an American Express card, don't forget to register it to get your rewards. RenMan's shop actually counts! As do most Etsy shops..
And can we just make a giant plug for Etsy? I've been shopping handmade items here for years. They are a great way to find unique gifts...especially stocking stuffers. And they are fantastic personal shoppers. If you are stumped, go to the "Treasuries" section where different shop owners have "curated" listings based on particular themes. The rules are that each item in the Treasury should come from a different shop and none of them should be your own, so there is a lot of variety in just one list. We recently created this Treasury for a more masculine holiday shopping list on Esty.
And lastly, we are offering our own promotion (aren't we getting all business-like and market strategery?). Share us and tag us...we will send you a 10% coupon code to use in our shop on purchases over from now until January 31, 2014. You can share this website, our facebook page, or look for our Instagram photo promotion @cle_renman.
